He never really followed a specific sport. He had a general interest in everything.

In his early days he developed an interest in being a radio announcer, he even got a light aircraft pilots’ licence. Both were achieved at various times.

But the interest which really took off was when he became a Radio announcer in the 1970s and 80s employed at radio stations in both Victoria and New South Wales. For a while he was a television journalist.

Then in 1990 he got married, had twin sons in 1993. In 1994 his then employer merged with a Sydney based company and his whole world changed and moved to Sydney.

From 1989 to present his main occupation was a Customer service representative in various call centres in various industries including Banking, Superannuation and Insurance.

John has always had radio “in his blood” and has had the urge to return to some kind of work in radio.

In 1993 he was in a team of announcers helping an FM station in Melbourne in obtain its licence. But more currently, he was a volunteer announcer, trainer and community announcements producer at a community station on the Central coast NSW.

The task now is to bring his skills into the 21st century and by updating through a TAFE media course and concentrating on journalism which includes writing and learning new reporting techniques.

Media has changed since the 80s has progressing to digital operations and has moved into areas such as Social media, Websites, Podcasting and more. There are new and more role titles in the industry because of digital. And now more skills are needed to be acquired in order to progress.

He desires to aim for Teacher/Mentor, Content Producer, Presenter, Journalist and social media marketing with a bias towards radio. In order to progress he knows he will need to seek the advice of the experienced imparting their wisdom, knowledge and who are willing to encourage.

The main purpose of this blog is to enlighten the reader of my creative outcomes, nothing more nothing less.
